2月6日讯 此前英超官方宣布，多年来曼城涉嫌违反了薪资等多项规则，随后曼城官方也发布了声明回应。对此《独立报主编》Miguel Delaney表示道，比欧足联，英超对曼城违规的调查不被时效限制，而且剥夺此前夺得过的冠军头衔的概率很低。
该记者透露：欧足联和英超对曼城调查之间的一个关键区别是，被指控的违规行为不能被时间限制，对被指控的违规行为发生后的时间长短没有限制。
相关人士认为，任何未来的可能处罚都不会是针对之前的（即剥夺冠军）。不过这一切都被描述为是“前所未有”的。
